Roof cleaning in the Eastern Suburbs
Every roof we do is a moss, mould and lichen treatment. No pressure on the tiles. The treatment keeps working with the rain and kills the growth off over about 12 months.

Eastern Suburbs
Roof cleaning in the Eastern Suburbs
Terracotta roofs on Spanish Mission and inter-war homes in Rose Bay and Bellevue Hill grow black mould and lichen. We treat them without pressure, so the glaze survives, and the growth dies off over about 12 months.
Roofs on leafy blocks and coastal headlands collect growth fast. Moss holds water against the tiles, lichen etches the surface, and black streaks run down from the ridge. Left alone, moss lifts tiles and blocks valleys and gutters.
We don't pressure clean roofs. We apply a treatment to the moss, mould and lichen and leave it there. Each time it rains, the treatment works further in. Over about 12 months the growth dies right back and weathers off, and the tiles, glaze and coatings are never touched by a jet.
Local detail
Roofs across the Eastern Suburbs
What we see in suburbs in the Eastern Suburbs:
- Bellevue Hill: Terracotta barrel tile roofs treated for moss and lichen, no pressure.
- Dover Heights: Most homes here are contemporary, with big expanses of glass, aluminium joinery, rendered walls, roof terraces and travertine or porcelain around pools.
- Double Bay: We wash street facades, front fences, gates and entry tiles carefully, with the footpath protected and the area kept dry for passers-by when we finish.
- Rose Bay: Houses range from Inter-war homes with rendered walls and tiled roofs to large modern homes with stone terraces and pools.
- Woollahra: Terraces have iron lace, sandstone sills and tiled front paths.
How often
For roofs, plan on near the water, every 5 to 7 years; on sheltered sites, every 7 to 10 years.
What affects the quote
- Waterfront: wash water near the shoreline may need to be contained and collected.
- Large glass and mixed materials: methods change at each material edge.
- Heritage materials: test patches and lower pressure take longer than a modern build.

Our method
How we handle roofs

Nathan is punctual, knowledgeable, polite and left our place neat and tidy.
Step 01 of 04
Roof inspection
We check for broken tiles, loose capping and fragile areas from the ground and the roof, and photograph anything you should know about.

He was professional, responsive, and delivered exactly as promised.
Step 02 of 04
Apply the treatment
The treatment is applied to the moss, mould and lichen across the roof, at low pressure from the ridge down.

Great work, fair pricing, and excellent communication.
Step 03 of 04
Leave it to work
It isn't rinsed off. Rain carries the treatment deeper into the growth over the following months.

Excellent service! Nathan is punctual and nothing is a problem.
Step 04 of 04
Killed off over 12 months
Moss, mould and lichen die back and weather off over about a year. The roof gets cleaner month by month.

What our clients say

Nathan did a great job washing the external sides of our house. The weatherboard was dirty and had cobwebs. Nathan went above and beyond our expectations, the house was perfectly clean and all the cobwebs were gone.
Nathan did an incredible job at my home cleaning all my outdoor paving areas. He even washed some extra areas of my house free of charge and his price was very reasonable. He's a lovely fella and was prompt, friendly and professional. I highly recommend Nathan's services.
Nathan just completed a pressure wash of our travertine pavers under our alfresco area, around the pool and the sundeck. What an absolutely fantastic job. Nathan is punctual, knowledgeable, polite and left our place neat and tidy. We will certainly be calling him back on a regular basis and can highly recommend him.

Do you offer roofs everywhere in the Eastern Suburbs?
Yes. We cover all 12 suburbs listed above from our base in Elanora Heights.
Will roof cleaning break my tiles?
There's no pressure on the tiles, and we keep foot traffic to a minimum with roof ladders and padding. Brittle old tiles can crack under any foot traffic, so we check first and tell you if we see weak areas.
How long until the roof looks clean?
The treatment takes about 12 months to fully kill off moss, mould and lichen. You'll see it change colour and die back with each rain, and the dead growth weathers off over the year.
Do you clean Colorbond roofs?
Yes, with the same treatment. Nothing is blasted, so the paint system isn't damaged.
Is roof cleaning safe for my rainwater tank?
Disconnect the tank inlet before we start and we'll remind you to reconnect it after a good rain. We can't let cleaning solution run into drinking water.
Why don't you pressure clean roofs?
High pressure strips glaze, cracks slate, lifts coatings and pushes water under the tiles. A treatment kills the growth at the root without any of that.
