Manly homes and what they need
Manly sits on a narrow strip between the ocean and the harbour, so salt arrives from both sides. On Bower Street and around Shelly Beach the spray is constant. Behind the Corso, in the streets of Federation and Californian bungalows near Darley Road, it's the sea air and the humidity that build up on render and timber.
Housing here is a mix. Restored Federation homes with tuckpointed brick and sandstone foundations. Art Deco apartment blocks. New beachfront houses with frameless glass, powder-coated aluminium and travertine terraces. Each needs a different clean, and most Manly properties have at least two of them.
Sand is the hidden problem
Wind blows beach sand into every joint and corner. On paving it acts like sandpaper underfoot and holds moisture in the joints, which is where moss starts. On glass and window tracks it scratches when people try to wipe the salt off. We flush sand out of joints and tracks before we wash, so the clean lasts.
Steep blocks behind the beach
The streets climbing up towards North Head and Eastern Hill are steep and many houses sit below the road. We often carry gear down stairs and run hoses from the street. That's normal for us and it's priced into the quote, not added on the day.

How often should a Manly beachfront home be washed?
Homes on the ocean or harbour front in Manly usually need a wash every 6 to 12 months. A few streets back, once a year is normally enough.
Can you clean salt off frameless glass balustrades?
Yes. Fresh salt film washes off easily. Glass that hasn't been cleaned for years can have mineral etching, which we'll point out if we see it.
Do you work in the Fairy Bower and Bower Street area?
Yes. Access is tight there, so we plan parking and hose runs before the day.
Will you clean the apartment block common areas?
We clean strata common areas such as entry paving, stairs and walls when the strata manager books the work.
