Balgowlah Heights backs onto Sydney Harbour National Park, with walking tracks down to Forty Baskets and Reef Beach. Streets like Beatrice Street and Cutler Road wind along the ridge, and most houses step down the slope towards Middle Harbour with views across to Clontarf and The Spit.
The homes are generous: two and three storeys, large decks, pools set into the hillside and long runs of sandstone retaining wall. The bush keeps them shaded and damp, which is great in summer and hard on every outdoor surface the rest of the year.
