Eastern Suburbs
Stone sealing in the Eastern Suburbs
Eastern Suburbs terraces and pool decks are often travertine, limestone or honed marble that marks easily. Red wine, sunscreen and salt all leave stains, so the sealer has to protect against oil and water while keeping the honed look the owner paid for.
Unsealed stone and concrete act like a sponge. Red wine at a party, oil from a car, leaf tannin after rain and mould in the shade all soak straight in. A sealer slows that down. Spills sit on the surface long enough to wipe up and the next clean is quicker and gentler.
Sealing only works on a clean, dry surface, so every sealing job starts with a full clean. Then we let the surface dry properly before the sealer goes on. Rushing that step is why so many DIY sealers fail.
Local detail
Sealing across the Eastern Suburbs
What we see in suburbs in the Eastern Suburbs:
- Double Bay: Sealing courtyard stone and tiles against stains.
- Dover Heights: Sealing stone surfaces exposed to salt spray.
- Point Piper: Sealing limestone and travertine against salt and stains.
- Vaucluse: Penetrating seals that protect soft stone from salt and stains.
- Darling Point: Harbourfront homes catch salt and sun, and sandstone walls and terraces are common throughout.
- Rose Bay: Houses range from Inter-war homes with rendered walls and tiled roofs to large modern homes with stone terraces and pools.
How often
For sealing, plan on near the water, every 3 to 4 years; on sheltered sites, every 5 years.
What affects the quote
- Waterfront: wash water near the shoreline may need to be contained and collected.
- Heritage materials: test patches and lower pressure take longer than a modern build.
- Steep access: carrying gear down stairs and running long hoses adds time.

Our method
How we handle sealing

Nathan is punctual, knowledgeable, polite and left our place neat and tidy.
Step 01 of 04
Deep clean
The surface is cleaned and any stains treated, as for a full driveway or sandstone clean.

He was professional, responsive, and delivered exactly as promised.
Step 02 of 04
Dry out
We wait until the stone is dry enough. Porous stone can take a day or more after cleaning.

Great work, fair pricing, and excellent communication.
Step 03 of 04
Apply the sealer
The chosen sealer goes on evenly by sprayer, roller or brush, then excess is removed.

Excellent service! Nathan is punctual and nothing is a problem.
Step 04 of 04
Cure
Light foot traffic is usually fine within hours. Cars and furniture wait for the curing time on the product.

Do you offer sealing everywhere in the Eastern Suburbs?
Yes. We cover all 12 suburbs listed above from our base in Elanora Heights.
Will sealing make my paving slippery?
Penetrating sealers don't change the grip. Topical sealers can, so on pool surrounds and stairs we add an anti-slip additive.
Can you seal straight after cleaning?
Only once the surface is dry. On porous stone we often clean one day and seal the next.
Will a sealer change the colour?
A natural-look penetrating sealer leaves the colour almost unchanged. A colour-enhancing sealer deepens it. We'll show you on a test area.
How long before I can walk on it?
Usually a few hours for foot traffic. Driveways need longer before cars go on them, depending on the product.
Can old sealer be removed?
Yes. Peeling or yellowed topical sealers can be stripped before a new seal goes on. It adds time and we'll quote it separately.
