Stone sealing on the North Shore
North Shore stone tends to be older: sandstone retaining walls, heritage steps and paths laid decades ago under heavy shade. Sealing here is about keeping moss and tannin stains from coming straight back, so we use a breathable sealer that lets old stone dry out.
Unsealed stone and concrete act like a sponge. Red wine at a party, oil from a car, leaf tannin after rain and mould in the shade all soak straight in. A sealer slows that down. Spills sit on the surface long enough to wipe up and the next clean is quicker and gentler.
Sealing only works on a clean, dry surface, so every sealing job starts with a full clean. Then we let the surface dry properly before the sealer goes on. Rushing that step is why so many DIY sealers fail.

Do you offer sealing everywhere on the North Shore?
Yes. We cover all 17 suburbs listed above from our base in Elanora Heights.
Will sealing make my paving slippery?
Penetrating sealers don't change the grip. Topical sealers can, so on pool surrounds and stairs we add an anti-slip additive.
Can you seal straight after cleaning?
Only once the surface is dry. On porous stone we often clean one day and seal the next.
Will a sealer change the colour?
A natural-look penetrating sealer leaves the colour almost unchanged. A colour-enhancing sealer deepens it. We'll show you on a test area.
How long before I can walk on it?
Usually a few hours for foot traffic. Driveways need longer before cars go on them, depending on the product.
Can old sealer be removed?
Yes. Peeling or yellowed topical sealers can be stripped before a new seal goes on. It adds time and we'll quote it separately.
