Northern Beaches

Path cleaning on the Northern Beaches

Northern Beaches paths deal with sand, salt and shade, and each one needs a different fix. Beach paths and side passages on coastal blocks collect grit that grinds into the surface, while bush-edge homes in places like Elanora Heights and Frenchs Forest grow algae on every shaded walk. We clean both, and treat the green so it stays off for longer.

Paths are where people slip. Side passages and garden walks sit in shade for most of the day, so algae and moss grow on them faster than anywhere else on the block. After rain they turn slick, and that's when someone ends up on the ground.

We treat the growth, clean the path at the pressure its surface can take, and clear the edges and joints so water drains instead of sitting. Concrete, pavers, sandstone, brick and crazy paving each get their own method.

Local detail

Path cleaning across the Northern Beaches

What we see in suburbs on the Northern Beaches:

  • Balgowlah Heights: Pool coping, stairs and paths stay wet, and black algae and moss follow.
  • Manly Vale: Manly Creek runs through the valley, and the lower streets can be damp after rain, so paths and side passages go green quickly.
  • Allambie Heights: Allambie Road is the spine of the suburb, and the streets off it end at bush reserves and walking tracks into Manly Dam and Garigal National Park.
  • Dee Why: On Dee Why apartment blocks we work with the strata manager, clean common paths, entries and balconies, and keep water off the units below and out of the lagoon catchment.
  • Church Point: We carry gear up and down steep paths, run long hoses and plan around parking near the wharf.
  • Narraweena: Moss and algae make them slippery in winter, and tyre marks build up at the bottom.

How often

For path cleaning, plan on near the water, every 12 months; under trees, every 6 to 12 months.

What affects the quote

  • Bush debris: gutters and roofs may need clearing before washing.
  • Leaf litter: tannin stains and moss need treating, not just washing.
  • Steep access: carrying gear down stairs and running long hoses adds time.

Do you offer path cleaning everywhere on the Northern Beaches?

Yes. We cover all 42 suburbs listed above from our base in Elanora Heights.

How do I stop my path being slippery?

Kill the algae, not only the surface layer. A treatment and a clean usually fix it, and better drainage or more light slows it coming back.

Can you clean crazy paving without damaging it?

Yes. We use low pressure on crazy paving so the mortar joints stay in place, and we tell you about any loose pieces first.

Do you clean garden steps too?

Yes. Steps, landings and the edges beside them are part of the job.

Will cleaning harm my lawn or plants?

We direct run-off away from beds and rinse plants down. The treatment goes on the path, not the garden.

Can you seal a path after cleaning?

Yes, once it's dry. Sealing slows algae growth and makes the next clean easier.
